Following the council election at the beginning of the month, and the announcement about new cabinet positions this week, it is confirmed that I shall be moving on from leading politically on education in Hounslow. I simply wanted to take this opportunity to write to you all to say a huge thank you!
The support the Hounslow education community has given me over the past 9 years while I have been the lead member has been tremendous and I will be forever appreciative. I am not going far, remaining on the cabinet, and taking on the exciting portfolio of regeneration and development. I will of course remain actively interested in education and if there is anything I can help you with in the future, be it education or anything else, please don't hesitate to ask. My favourite part of this job as always has been visiting schools, and so while I no longer have the portfolio, I would always be very happy to come and visit and see what is happening in the wonderful schools in this borough.
I leave the portfolio in the very capable and experienced hands of Cllr Lily Bath who I am sure you will meet in the coming weeks and months. I know you will make her feel supported and welcome as you have done with me,.
I would be very grateful you could pass on my thanks to your staff, pupils, governors, parents, and wider community in whatever way you see appropriate. There are simply too many to write to individually, and in doing so I am sure I will leave some out.
Once again thank you, and best wishes for the future,
Councillor Tom Bruce | Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Development
